Skip 2 The Beat, Scotland’s first competitive skipping club is renowned
throughout Scotland, England and Europe for its high standard of skippers. It is
their fast feet and excellent rope turning skills that have seen members reach
the top of British Rope Skipping Championships. In 4 competitions, club members
received a total of 56 medals. The club’s lead skipper Isla Matheson, was
recently invited to train with the British team. She hopes to qualify for the
European Championships this year.
The club are in constant demand to
perform at Festivals and Galas as well as club/group events, private parties and
weddings. The displays are choreographed to a wide variety of music including
Scottish, Irish, Country, Disco and good old Rock ‘n’ Roll. Skipping skills are
demonstrated with a Single Rope, Double Dutch (2 ropes), a Rainbow (3 ropes), as
well as a 4 Rope Box.
Partner skipping is performed with 1 rope, face to
face, side by side and back to back and also 2 ropes, side by side plain and
side by side Chinese Wheel which takes a bit more practice to perfect. Once the
skills have been mastered the Wheel can be performed with 3, 4 or more
skippers.
Cost of displays vary depending on length of time, number of
performances and travel expenses. For bookings and prices please contact the
club secretary, Diane Hutcheson on 01261 888888. If you are unable to make
contact with Diane you should call the club Chairperson, Silvanna Matheson on
